The position requires a registered nurse for a progressive care unit. Candidates must have an RN license in hand for an auto offer. The assignment length is 13 weeks, with a night shift of three 12-hour shifts. First-time travelers are accepted. Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other and is subject to staffing needs. The nurse will float within the scope to meet facility needs if required.
The unit employs a co-care/virtual nursing model. For each patient, there is one bedside RN, a virtual RN, and one CNA. The bedside nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, with CNA ratios of 1:6. 30% of the patient population is cardiac in nature, including CHF, MI, and pacemaker patients. The unit also accommodates respiratory patients, including those with COVID, flu, and COPD.
Complicated medical-surgical patients requiring higher levels of monitoring are treated on this unit. The staff oversees various complex medical and surgical conditions. Essential skills required include BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac telemetry, and IV procedures. The nurse must be adept in using equipment specific to the unit's needs. Interdisciplinary support is provided by physical therapy, respiratory services, and other teams. Candidates seeking this role should be prepared for a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
