Summary

Under general supervision, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides basic patient care—including hygiene, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance—alongside monitoring vital signs, infection control, and safety assessments. The employee records and reports all information within scope of knowledge, assists nursing staff with technical tasks, and participates in quality improvement and educational activities.

Employee Levels

Level I:
New graduate or newly certified within the first two years of practice.
Level II:
At least two years of practice with increased training, certification, and precepting.
Level III:
Performs high‑level, complex tasks, assists with process improvements, trains lower‑level employees, and works with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients experiencing suicidal ideation, behavioral health issues, or safety concerns and report to the primary Registered Nurse.

• Conduct environmental assessments to maintain a safe environment for patients under isolation precautions.

• Provide basic care, including hygiene, activities of daily living, and mobility assistance.

• Take and record vital signs and other clinical parameters, documenting findings in the electronic health record.
