Examiner Nurse Practitioner

Position Purpose

As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). Your responsibilities include reviewing claims, performing focused assessments of injuries, reviewing medical records, and rendering medical opinions based on the examination and records. Charting may be performed from home. Your work directly impacts the veteran experience.

• Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including history review, physical exam, and functional assessment. 10% travel may be required to other LSGS clinics.
• Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the veteran’s medical history and health condition.
• Render objective medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on ability to work and daily activities.
• Use the case‑management system, organize workload, submit findings, and coordinate with the Quality Assurance team.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and specialists to obtain additional medical information as needed.
• Document findings in clear, concise reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations.
• Partner with Loyal Source departments to utilize resources and meet deadlines.
• Manage time effectively, confirm availability, and schedule C&P examinations.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and VA standards for disability examinations.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and VA security protocols.

• Graduate of a licensed nursing school accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license with no bar in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Preferred experience conducting medical disability examinations or related field.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Preferred familiarity with military or veteran communities.
• Completion of specialized training or continuing education in medical disability evaluations, occupational health, or related areas.
• Proficiency in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based opinions.

• Meticulous focus on accuracy, data quality, and alignment with LS and VA standards.

• Authorized to work in the United States and comply with federal contractor requirements.

Ability to apply common sense to conduct detailed instructions and solve problems involving a few variables.

Competent with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Teams, and learning management systems.

Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk; ability to lift up to 15 pounds; full range of motion for comprehensive physical examinations.

10% travel supporting other clinics; additional travel for training or company events.

Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm standard schedule. Holidays: clinics closed.

Pay Range: $140,961 – $170,961 per year.
