Overview
Nurse 2 (Nurse Assessor, PCN 062388) – This exempt position involves conducting professional, face-to-face nursing assessments for individuals applying for or participating in Medicaid waiver and state plan programs. Under the general direction of Nurse III, you will travel statewide to homes, hospitals, nursing facilities, and other care settings to evaluate individuals with complex health conditions using standardized assessment tools.
Responsibilities- Complete comprehensive assessments to determine Nursing Facility Level of Care and Level of Service.
- Review Support Plans for the Children with Complex Medical Conditions waiver to identify needed nursing and personal care services.
- Process Nursing Home stay authorization requests, including PASRR evaluations, and monitor program requirements to ensure continuity and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure appropriate service delivery and resolve issues that could affect participant care.
- Respond to medical emergencies in the field and initiate EMS when necessary as needed.
- Travel statewide to conduct assessments and participate in field visits.
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in Alaska.
- One year of entry-level RN experience or equivalent as described; substitutions of training or experience in relevant nursing care areas will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Some positions may require background investigation, fingerprinting, TB testing, or other requirements as indicated at the time of recruitment.
- Frequent travel (1 to 3 times per month) to remote areas of Alaska via small aircraft.
- A valid Alaska driver s license is required at the time of appointment.

Schedule:
7.5-hour workday with flexible start times between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. After three months in the office, telework opportunities may be available per department policy.
