American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery position at a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma hospital in Alaska, requiring an AK RN license and at least 2 years of L&D experience.

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit within a 407-bed Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma, USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska acute care hospital
• Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
• Average of 7 deliveries per day with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases; OB Triage sees 4–5 third-trimester testing patients plus additional triage volume daily
• Patient populations include labor & delivery, high-risk antepartum, OB triage, and postpartum/couplet care
• Facility delivers approximately 100–200 births per month
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30); position is most likely straight nights, but schedule may rotate between nights and days every 4 weeks if coverage is needed
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Floating to like units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities may be required
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic (required)
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

• Active Alaska (AK) RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration, but license must be in hand prior to offer — applicants must be able to complete the AK RN license application (including fingerprints, application fee, and submission) within 48 hours of signing
• Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and AWHONN Advanced
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in L&D skills including labor management, fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, C-section circulating and recovery, vaginal delivery assistance, amnioinfusion, and OB triage
• Experience with high-risk medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives, and Terbutaline
• Neonatal resuscitation and newborn care skills required, including APGAR scoring, /security banding, and use of radiant warmers
• IV therapy skills including starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy, blood draws, and infusion pump management
• Charge RN experience preferred; facility is willing to train for charge role
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Hepatitis B vaccine required; titers and declination forms are not accepted by this facility

• Responsibilities include managing high-risk antepartum and laboring patients, performing OB triage, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, postpartum and couplet care, neonatal resuscitation, and antepartum testing including NSTs and EFM
• Charge experience is preferred; the facility is willing to provide charge training for qualified candidates
• Travelers may be required to float to affiliate hospitals within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays:
  Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration; RTO is approved on an individual basis
• Former permanent employees of Providence must have been separated for a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel assignment maximum is 1 calendar year; a minimum 6-month break is required before returning to the same facility for another travel assignment
