American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute hospital setting, requiring an active AK RN license and Epic experience.
Details- Work in the Case Management/Utilization Review department of an acute care hospital
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, with start times ranging between
- Every other weekend or 4 weekend days within a 4-week schedule required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Responsibilities include admission criteria review, care coordination, continued stay reviews, determination of medical necessity, discharge planning/DME needs assessment, and pre-certification and prior authorization reviews
- Utilizes Inter Qual Criteria and Milliman Guidelines
- Involves regulatory compliance areas such as CMS, HIPAA, ICD-10 coding, and Joint Commission standards
- May involve care coordination across specialties including Emergency Department, ICU, NICU, Pediatrics, PICU, and Women's Services
- Active AK RN license required in hand
- BLS certification required; ACM-RN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Acute care hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Copies of certifications required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Hep B vaccination required (titers or declinations not accepted)
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma hospital recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Parking is free
- Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's - Only one time-off request of 5 days or less permitted per 13-week assignment; no holiday time off permitted
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the health system for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year at this assignment location, followed by a required 6-month break before returning
- Housing options in the area may be limited
