Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit requiring an active AK RN license and 1+ years of L&D experience.

Details
  • High-risk Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital
  • Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
  • Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
  • OB Triage sees 4-5 third trimester testing patients daily plus additional triage patients
  • Night shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • May float to like units within the facility or to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
  • Active AK RN license required in hand for consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in fetal monitoring, high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulating/scrubbing/recovery, and IV therapy required
  • 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years, from supervisory roles in a comparable specialty/setting

  • Level II Trauma, Magnet-designated facility recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
  • 407 staffed beds
  • Facility performs 100-200 births per month
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Care encompasses antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, and mother/baby units
  • Responsibilities include fetal monitoring, medication administration (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, insulin drips), neonatal care in the delivery room, and postpartum care
  • Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year per assignment, followed by a 6-month break before returning to the same facility
  • Facility only accepts Hep B vaccination records; titers or declinations not accepted
  • RTO must be submitted with the initial application and is approved on an individual basis upon offer
