Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN Case Manager for a Level II Trauma acute care hospital, requiring an active AK RN license, Epic experience, and acute care case management background.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting within the Case Management/Utilization Review department
  • Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM-5:30 PM)
  • Every other weekend required, or 4 weekend days within a 4-week schedule
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Responsibilities include admission criteria review, care coordination, continued stay reviews, discharge planning, needs assessment/DME ordering, plan of care development, and determining medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines
Requirements
  • Active AK RN license required in hand
  • BLS certification required; ACM-RN certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of case management experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Acute care hospital experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Inter Qual Criteria, Milliman Guidelines, and workers' comp case management preferred
  • Knowledge of CMS, HIPAA, ICD-10 coding, and Joint Commission/Core Measures/National Patient Safety Goals preferred
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma hospital recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Parking is free
  • Only 1 time-off request of 5 days or less allowed per 13-week assignment, with no holiday time off
  • Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays:
    Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • Travelers must be willing to float between sister facilities as needed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside more than 50 miles from the facility
