Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN with Charge Nurse experience to work nights in a high-risk L&D unit, requiring an active AK RN license in hand.

Details
  • High-risk Labor and Delivery unit with 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
  • Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients during inductions and high-risk antepartum care
  • OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients plus additional daily triage patients
  • Facility performs 100-200 births per month
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12), working 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • May float to similar units within the facility or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
  • Active AK RN license required in hand prior to offer
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP certifications required
  • Charge Nurse experience preferred or willingness to train for charge role
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Experience with high-risk antepartum, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Proof of required certifications and active professional license at time of consideration
  • Hepatitis B vaccination required (titers or declinations not accepted)

  • Charge Nurse responsibilities expected on a regular basis
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Free parking available
  • Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays:
    Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Former permanent staff must have a minimum 3-month separation before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers are limited to a maximum of 1 year in this assignment before requiring a 6-month break prior to returning
  • Time off requests are approved individually at the time of offer and must be submitted upfront
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
