American Traveler is hiring an experienced PICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring AK RN licensure and PALS certification.
Details- PICU unit within an acute care hospital
- Patient ratios are 1:2 in PICU, with ventilated patients typically 1:1 due to unit layout
- Support staff includes CNAs and a med clerk, with a charge nurse who typically carries no patient load
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to NICU and Peds units
- Block scheduling accommodated
- Uses Cerner charting system, EPIC experience preferred
- Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, PALS
- NRP certification copy required with submission
- Pediatric ICU and pediatric floor nursing experience required
- Skills in ventilator management, central line care, IV therapy, and pediatric dosage calculations preferred
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Provide direct patient care in a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 152 staffed beds
- Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population served
- Navy scrub color required (L&D/OR scrubs provided by facility)
- Must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
- Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination compliance required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Onsite and annual training modules required, averaging 4-5 hours
