Schedule / Job TypeContract (13 or 26 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients in a high-risk OB unit, including patients undergoing inductions and high-risk antepartum monitoring
- Regularly function in the Charge Nurse role, overseeing unit operations and coordinating patient care across LDR rooms, OB Triage, OR suites, and PACU
- Manage OB Triage patients including third-trimester testing and incoming triage volume, with an average of 4–5 testing patients and additional triage influx daily
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment averaging approximately 7 deliveries per day, with capacity for up to 14 patients
- Float to like units within the facility or affiliate hospitals as needed to meet patient care demands
- Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
- Active Alaska RN license required (pending license accepted for submission; license must be in hand for offer)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Charge Nurse experience required; candidates willing to train in the Charge role may also be considered
- Hepatitis B vaccine required (titers and declinations not accepted)
- 2 references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required prior to start
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- Prior experience in a high-risk Labor & Delivery or antepartum setting
- Familiarity with Epic charting system
- Experience managing high patient volumes including inductions and antepartum monitoring
- Work at a nationally recognized Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma facility ranked among the best hospitals in Alaska, offering a dynamic and high-acuity clinical environment
- Expected 60 hours per two-week pay period, with scrubs and free parking provided on-site
