Project Assurance Engineer

The Project Assurance Engineer supports the Assurance Manager in implementing the Project Assurance Framework across all project phases. The role is responsible for coordinating assurance activities, stage gate reviews, readiness assessments, assurance actions, and compliance verification to ensure project delivery requirements are achieved in accordance with Client Management System requirements.

The position provides assurance coordination throughout the project lifecycle, from opportunity maturation through FEED, execution, commissioning, start-up, and handover.

Essential duties include supporting implementation of the project Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), coordinating project assurance activities across all project phases, maintaining assurance schedules, action registers, and deliverable tracking systems, verifying project assurance requirements are incorporated into project execution plans, ensuring assurance deliverables are completed in accordance with project timelines, coordinating preparation for all project stage gate reviews, tracking gate deliverables and evidence requirements, supporting gate readiness assessments, verifying closure of gate actions and conditions, maintaining records of gate decisions and approvals, facilitating coordination between functional disciplines to achieve gate readiness, coordinating assurance activities during Opportunity Identification, Concept Select, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, Execute, Commissioning, Start-Up, and Handover, supporting verification that phase-specific requirements have been completed prior to progression to the next phase, maintaining project assurance action registers, tracking closure of assurance findings and recommendations, monitoring aging and overdue actions, coordinating with action owners to ensure timely closeout, providing regular status reporting to project leadership, supporting planning and execution of Project Readiness Reviews, Execution Readiness Reviews, Construction Readiness Reviews, Commissioning Readiness Reviews, and Operations Readiness Reviews, tracking readiness actions and verifying completion, verifying project compliance with applicable SMS requirements, monitoring implementation of project governance requirements, supporting periodic assurance assessments, assisting with identification of improvement opportunities, preparing assurance dashboards and reports, developing assurance status summaries for project management, monitoring assurance KPIs and performance metrics, supporting management review meetings, coordinating incorporation of lessons learned into project planning and execution, verifying lessons learned actions are implemented where applicable, maintaining lessons learned tracking records, coordinating assurance activities between Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, HSE, Commercial, and Stakeholder Management, supporting AES zero-incident safety culture and assuming personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations, and other duties as assigned.

Required experience includes 5+ years of related work experience and an engineering degree. Preferred experience includes previous experience working on major capital projects ($100M+), experience working in the oil and gas industry, project assurance or project governance experience, familiarity with stage gate and project delivery systems, and experience working Pre-FEED and FEED development processes.
