Temporary Research Technician- Office of Research

Overview

This is a pool from which the College of Engineering (CoEng), College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP), Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), Community Technical College (CTC), Business Enterprise Institute (BEI), and the School of Education (SoEd) will draw upon when research technicians are needed to work on sponsored projects.

These units conduct applied and fundamental scientific research which may include collecting, synthesizing, archiving, and distributing data. Some field work may be included in addition to administrative or technical duties.

Knowledge of data collection procedures, data entry procedures, and computerized spreadsheets and databases. Ability to manipulate data to produce charts and graphs to display trends in data. Ability to interpret data results for reporting. Ability to work in remote locations, sometimes in extreme conditions. Ability to coordinate/lead the activities of others.

• Research Technician 1:
  High school graduation and 6 months' experience in field relevant to research or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Research Technician 2: 1 year's relevant college coursework and 1 year's experience in relevant field, or equivalent combination training and experience.
• Research Technician 3: 2 years' relevant college coursework and 2 years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Research Technician 4:
  Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 4 years' experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a part-time, non-exempt temporary position. New hires will be placed on the Temporary Salary Table and the Grade is determined based on education and experience.
