Bistro Attendant
Position
Purpose:
Service of food and/or beverage to include the order-taking and delivery of any food and/or beverage items. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.

- Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking drink orders
- Preparing and serving beverages such as espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks according to the recipes
- Prompting and recommending menu options to customers
- Taking payment, including cash, room charges, and credit/debit cards
- Tracking and ordering inventory for supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, napkins, and cups
- Performing general cleaning tasks using standard restaurant cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards
- Ability to maintain perspective and composure in demanding business situations such as an irate guest, rush of business or being short-staffed
- Ability to divide attention among several tasks going on at one time
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve group work goals
- Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner, including listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy and providing positive solutions
- Communicates with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction
- The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage/sanitation
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
- Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use a knife to garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock
- Ability to read, speak and understand the English language to communicate with guests and take orders
- Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items
- Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
- Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time
- Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner, including listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer, and providing positive and proactive solutions
The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times. Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with JL Hospitality Management rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
