At Office Depot, the Retail Team Lead is a part‑time role providing “total solutions” to our customers encompassing products, technology, services, furniture and print offerings. The Retail Team Lead will quickly build and maintain customer relationships and become a trusted advisor by utilizing training to support sales offerings. The Team Lead will support a customer‑centric environment, engage with the local community, and contribute to a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative & Courageous.

This role also serves as a part‑time Key Carrier and may perform Leader on Duty functions.

Responsibilities Print Sales and Services
  • Responsibility in the Print function to support efficient operation while driving overall store sales.
  • Operate and assist associates on all equipment within the Print Services area to maintain efficient production and ensure client orders are completed correctly and on‑time.
  • Effectively utilize communication tools to request assistance within the Print Services area and to coordinate the appropriate service for all customers throughout the store.
Operational Efficiency
  • Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies. In partnership with all associates, ensure regular loss prevention compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices; and support the company’s loss prevention efforts.
  • Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, average order value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
Client Engagement
  • Drive positive client satisfaction levels, including coaching and training associates to enhance the customer experience.
  • Support community outreach initiatives to drive client/customer retention.
  • Continually develop personal selling skills and product knowledge through sales and service tools provided to deliver the total solution.
External Key Carrier and Leader on Duty
  • Ensure the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of the management team.
  • In partnership with all associates, ensure regular loss prevention compliance.
  • Perform opening or closing responsibilities, including activation/deactivation of the store’s alarm system and processes for opening or closing the store.
  • Assist in the review of cash handling, cashier, and merchandise error logs, register voids, tax exemption and related cash office audits.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–3 years of related experience; sales and/or customer service preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; able to use job‑related technology and POS systems.
  • Attention to detail and, ideally, experience in Print Services.
  • Advanced selling skills and strong customer focus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Positive, engaging, and adaptable in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and trust.
  • Action‑oriented with a drive for results, sound decision‑making, patience, and a desire to continuously build product and selling knowledge.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $12.75 to $16.97 per hour (subject to state and local minimum wage requirements).

Benefits include a 401(k) plan, medical, vision, dental, disability, life insurance, paid time off, and more. Eligible for incentive program based on the Incentive Plan.
