In this position, you will play a key role in the Section of Epidemiology by providing technical accounting and fiscal support within the Central Services Unit. You will manage a variety of fiscal functions, including processing financial transactions, financial management, journal entries, procurement, Reimbursable Service Agreements (RSA), account reconciliations, accounts payable, and budget tracking. Working collaboratively with administrative and program staff, you will help ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient financial operations that support statewide public health programs.

The Section of Epidemiology is dedicated to protecting and improving the health of Alaskans through timely, data-driven action on infectious diseases and environmental health hazards. The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following position-specific competencies in addition to the minimum qualifications listed below:

• Accounting Operations:
  Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer’s accountability.
• Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving:
  Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
