Position: TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT with Security Clearance
Duties
* As a traffic/information controller, works on a shift in the 24-hour/7-days-a-week operation of the Air Terminal Operations Center's (ATOC) information control function.
* Plans and coordinates activities involving the processing of cargo and passenger records originating and transiting through the Aerial Port.
* Performs ramp coordinator duties and closely monitors SOEs and all aerial port ground handling operations, maintaining constant communication with the ATOC.
* Prepares and submits Monthly Station Traffic Handing Report (RCS): AMC/DOZM (M&Q) 7107 report.
* Performs duties as a file/records technician and maintains local databases, spreadsheets, and word processing files used for vital data collection. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Work occasionally requires travel away from normal duty station.
* Position is subject to shift rotation and uncommon tour of duty and exposure to prevailing or inclement weather conditions.
* This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test. (Category III, Type II AFI 90-508).
* The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position and must be able to pass a flight line test.
* Must obtain Explosive Handler qualifications within 6 months of assignment. Must recertify as an Explosive Handler IAW published guidelines and instructions.
* Must be proficient in oral and written communication.
* Must obtain qualifications and remain current as an ATOC Controller/Data Records within one year.
* Must re-qualify as Hazardous Cargo IAW published guidelines and instructions.
* Ability to climb, using both arms and legs.
* Must be able to meet and pass established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast and depth.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate secret security clearance.
* This position is subject to pre-employment physical Qualifications Conditions of Employment Continued:
* Must be hazardous cargo inspector qualified IAW AFMAN 24-204, Preparing Hazardous Materials for Military Air Shipment. The incumbent has one year from date of entry on duty to become qualified. The Government will fund one opportunity to become qualified. If the incumbent fails to qualify on the first attempt, additional attempts will be at his/her expense.
* This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
* This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative, series 2102 SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of transportation regulations that relate to the movement of a wide range of specialized shipments. For example, this includes assignments regularly involving the movement of oversized, heavy haul, hazardous, and security risk items.

Moves of this nature require extensive practical knowledge of the carrier industry, specialized shipment needs, and terminal or storage capabilities to identify the appropriate shipping method, carrier equipment, services, and special handling required. Knowledge of transportation regulations governing entitlements and documentation requirements for domestic or foreign relocation travel to advise on travel procedures, restrictions, and allowances, and to resolve conflicts or issues related to the travel.
