The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for a Fishery Biologist 3 located in Anchorage, Alaska!

What you will be doing: As the Hatchery Support Fishery Biologist, you will play a key role in supporting Alaska's statewide sport fish enhancement program by combining applied research, fish culture, and biological data management. In this position, you will:

• Lead or independently conduct brood stock management, fish marking, triploid induction and certification, and production monitoring for salmon and resident species.
• Collect, analyze, and report biological and production data to ensure hatchery operations meet regulatory, permitting, and release certification requirements.
• Design and implement research projects that improve hatchery production, fish health, enhancement strategies, and stocked waters management.
• Collaborate with hatchery staff, fisheries managers, researchers, and partner agencies to advance science-based fish culture and enhancement practices.
• Contribute directly to fisheries management decisions that support sustainable recreational fishing opportunities throughout Alaska.

This position is based at the William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery, one of the largest and most technologically advanced recirculating aquaculture facilities in North America, located along Ship Creek in Anchorage. Your work will combine office, laboratory, hatchery, and field environments, with opportunities to travel throughout Alaska to support brood stock collections, fish releases, research projects, and stocked waters evaluations; some assignments involve physically demanding work and extended hours during peak operational periods.
