Event Security Team – University Police Department

We are seeking dedicated individuals to serve on the Event Security Team. Team members will be non‑sworn, unarmed, and will help identify and locate potential risks and hazards to increase campus safety.

• Provide security support at campus events under direct supervision.
• Participate in training programs and apply basic security officer practices and procedures.
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping related to security activities.
• Use conflict resolution and organizational skills to manage difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Operate computers and specialized equipment as required.
• Assist in campus emergencies and perform shift coverage for campus security when additional training and clearances are obtained.

• Must possess a valid .
• Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation directed by University of Alaska Board of Regents Policy requirements.
• Must be able to provide credible testimony in a court of law.
• Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Recordkeeping skills.
• Conflict resolution and organizational skills.
• Ability to operate computers and specialized equipment.
• Ability to exercise judgment under difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Must be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester and plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer.
• Students in non‑traditional programs may be considered eligible with approval of the senior student services officer.

• Location:
  
  Anchorage campus, Anchorage, Alaska.
• Type:
  Part‑time, temporary Student Worker, up to 20 hours per week while school is in session.
• Hourly rate: $20.47 per hour.
• This is a pooled position, open for the entire academic year.
• The role is considered a Clery CSA position.
• Students registered for graduate level courses may be represented by the Alaska Graduate Workers Association (AGWA/UAW).
