Event Staff/ Venue Crew
Overview
Join the dynamic team at the Alaska Airlines Center (AAC) as a Crowd Management member. AAC is located on the campus of the University of Alaska Anchorage and hosts a variety of sporting, musical, and community events. This part‑time position is essential for creating memorable experiences for event attendees.
Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all events hosted at the AAC.
- Oversee the smooth ingress and egress of attendees.
- Implement emergency response protocols and ensure adherence to venue and university policies.
- Interact with diverse groups of people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Be at least 21 years old (state alcohol regulations compliance).
- Active TAPS certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of work.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Previous experience in event security, law enforcement, military, or a related field is advantageous.
- Excellent observational and problem‑solving skills to identify and address potential issues.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high‑pressure situations and handle confrontational individuals.
- Successfully pass a background check.
- Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule.
- Complete FERPA, Title IX, BBS, and Workplace Harassment Prevention certifications within 30 days of the job start date.
- Annual Protecting Payment Card Information training.
This is a part‑time, non‑exempt, temporary staff position located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience. Salary: $20.47 per hour.
