The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is looking for an Airport Police and Fire Officer 5 / Deputy Chief of Operations to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:

The Airport Police and Fire Officer 5 (Deputy Chief-Operations) at Anchorage International Airport (ANC) Police and Fire Department is responsible for overseeing and managing law enforcement, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, rescue operations, hazardous material response, EMS, code enforcement, safety, and general emergency response functions to protect and care for those traveling to and from, as well as working at, ANC. This role includes managing staffing, equipment, and the provided budget to ensure readiness and response capabilities.

The Deputy Chief will make recommendations for departmental policy changes and is empowered to interpret and enforce department policies and procedures to fulfill the mission. This position is responsible for the administration and management of up to 54 employees, including 12 Airport Police and Fire Officer (APFO) leads, 41 subordinate officers, and a Criminal Justice Technician. The incumbent may also assume responsibility for managing and directing the entire department, including the Airport Communication Center, and associated administrative duties, in the Chief's absence.
