Job Description
This position carries out activities required to maintain and correct damage and make repairs to physical buildings, structures, and facilities, as well as maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and cleaning equipment of assigned facilities. The role involves equipment use such as scissor lifts and requires regular work from ladders. Minor electrical repair work may also be performed. This position will support the ACS facility headquartered in Anchorage, AK, with roving duties to support other Alaska ACS facilities as required.
Work tools, company work vehicle, and airfare to other worksites are provided.
- Work with a variety of skilled trades in all aspects of Facilities Maintenance, including modular furniture, interior partition walls, suspended ceilings, doors and door hardware, cabinets, and counters.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance duties required in the construction trades, HVAC, generators, and other assets associated with each facility.
- Perform repairs on various client facilities per manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
- Perform interior and exterior painting using a variety of paint and applications.
- Modify and repair interior/exterior wall systems, roof systems, floor coverings, windows, and window coverings.
- Repair overhead doors, personnel doors, and related hardware; monitor security systems as needed or requested by client.
- Make repairs to chain link and/or security fencing, parking lots, sidewalks, private drives, and building grounds.
- Minor electrical work such as lighting lamp changeouts and ballast replacement as needed.
- Test and repair various systems and equipment using meters, schematics, drawings, and manuals.
- Perform ergonomic changes to modular furniture and office furniture as needed per client request.
- Augment winter snow removal for multiple buildings throughout Central District, including entrances, ancillary doors, and sidewalks within the specified vicinity.
- Perform locksmith duties as needed, such as replacing locksets, changing interchangeable cores, cutting keys, and pinning cores.
- Repair or maintain damage to walls and flooring, including hanging cabinets, fixtures, pictures, drywall installation/repairs, painting, VCT flooring installation/repair, sheet vinyl installation/repair, carpet/carpet tile installation/repair, concrete installation/repair, and cleaning work area, tools, and equipment.
- Work regular day shift, Monday to Friday; position may involve night or weekend work as needed.
- Escort or assist other subcontractors or facilities technicians, regardless of skill set, to include HVAC, electrician, plumber, and other trades.
- Travel approximately 25–35% of the time out of the Anchorage area to remote sites; may be required to travel more often and within hours of client request to any site throughout the State of Alaska.
- Must be willing and able to fly on small aircraft to remote sites.
- Work well with others as directed and be a team player.
- Work independently and prioritize workload.
- Have experience assuming a supervisory role and/or job‑site lead technician.
- Instruct others as a lead technician in a professional manner.
- Other related duties may also be assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of directly related facilities and/or building maintenance experience.
- A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
- Commercial HVAC experience.
