Samson Electric is actively seeking experienced, professional, full‑time Journeyman Electricians who are interested in exploring Alaskan communities.
- Pay Rate: $55.44 (+10% for remote area projects)
- Travel + Room & Board provided
- Per Diem - Depends on Project
- Regular Rotation: 3 weeks on / 2 weeks off (schedule may vary by project or alternate agreement)

For those with an adventurous spirit holding a journeyman card, there are reciprocal agreements in place with several states:
Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.
Must have working knowledge of current NEC book, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72 and National Electrical Safety Code. Familiar with standards and methodologies in new construction commercial/industrial market and have experience in commercial T.I.’s. Must be able to read, interpret, do layout and understand blueprints, installation manuals, instruction sheets, wiring schematics and sketches.
Have the knowledge to troubleshoot and repair electrical and l/V systems including power distribution, Lighting, Motor control, Fire Alarm, Data, Telecom and Security. Must be willing to mentor and train apprentice electricians as part of the job. Must follow safety procedures, rules and set a positive example to those less knowledgeable.
Experienced in operating excavators, trenchers, boom trucks, bucket trucks and other trade related equipment preferred. Should be able to operate pipe threader, conduit benders (manual and power), make mathematical calculations and use NEC Tables correctly.
Flexible, honest, dependable and must perform quality workmanship in all circumstances. Travel to remote locations may be required for projects as well as swing, weekend or night shifts.
Essential Job Functions- Practice and participate in the Safety program (weekly tailgate safety topic discussions) and timely complete assigned safety rosters. Be able and willing to instruct safety procedures to apprentices and/or others.
- Use test equipment to measure, record, troubleshoot, identify and repair electrical problems.
- Follow instructions and communicate with foreman and coworkers in a professional manner.
- Exercise timely judgment; know when to seek higher authority when having difficulties.
- Order and install materials for work assigned; record installed work drawing data for redlines.
- Use common trade hand tools, power assisted tools, test equipment to complete work tasks.
- Report to work in a timely every day fit for work.
- Report any accidents, incidents of harassment, suspected abuse or other problems to management for prompt investigation.
- Perform simple record keeping tasks related to time and cost coding accurately and legibly.
- Knowledgeable on latest NEC/NFPA, NESC, OSHA codes and installation standards.
- Able to perform work that passes QA/QC or other 3rd party inspections.
- Must work well with others in a team atmosphere as well as independently.
- Demonstrate clear communication skills, both oral and written.
- Have good work ethic, being reliable and dependable.
- Must perform quality work, take pride in work produced.
- While on the clock and especially in remote locations that maintaining camp rules is an expectation outlined by the PM prior to leaving to the project site.
- Employees are expected to follow house rules and keep the mindset that you are a visitor while working remote.
- Check in/out process and communication with the PM, GC or bunkmate if you will not return to the place of lodging.
- Mentor and assist apprentices and others on the job as part of the team.
- Maintain a professional work appearance.
- Conduct business and work relations in a professional manner and individual actions should not diminish Samson's reputation.
- Flexible, able to work for more than one person and prioritize tasks in timely manner.
- Strong ethical code to update Samson any changes in status on licensing, and any other concerns.
