Typical Duties
  • Test, certify, and repair backflow assemblies.
  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, remove, replace, and modify all plumbing equipment and components for water, sewer, swimming pools, inert gas, natural gas, air vacuum, compressed air systems, steam, and POL equipment.
  • Remove blockage from drain lines, both interior and exterior sewers within contract lines of demarcation, floor drains, fan coil units, air handling units, stacks, vents, and storm drainage systems.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace leaky joints, faucets and other outlets to maintain proper operation of plumbing and steam fitting systems, including hot water, chilled water, potable water, compressed and vacuum air, inert and natural gas systems.
  • Install and repair domestic, industrial, and commercial hot water heaters, storage tanks, and plumbing fixtures, including commodes, urinals, kitchen and utility sinks, water fountains, frost‑proof hydrants, showers, bathtubs, lavatories, shower pans, garbage disposals, dishwashers, fan and air handler coils, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Install or replace and connect water, air, natural gas, sewage, and storm fixtures such as sewage lines, water closets, lavatories, showers, sinks, gas heaters, stoves, air compressor equipment, shop hydraulic vehicle lifts, cooling towers, grease traps, garbage disposals, dishwashers, floor drains, condensate pans, circulation systems for heating and cooling, and associated equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Conduct winterization and de‑winterization of facilities to prevent damage.
  • Apply all code requirements during installations, repairs, and maintenance to include UMC and UPC.
  • Ensure all requirements are met as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements.
  • Utilize mobile maintenance and inspection devices to maintain a record of all service and repair activities, including ultrasonic and thermography.
  • Operate company‑provided vehicles, trailers, and lifts, gas and electric‑powered small equipment.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
  • Maintain and wear PPE as required.
  • Read and understand drawings, work plans, and maps.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of plumbing experience.
  • Municipality of Anchorage plumber license preferred.
  • State of Anchorage plumber license preferred (Journeyman level license preferred).
  • Alaska certificate of fitness required.
  • Certified per UG‑2029‑ENV with a Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certificate for the State of Alaska if performing personnel inspecting, testing, certifying, and making recommendations for backflow prev enters.
  • Personnel performing maintenance on backflow prev enters shall have a journeyman plumber's license.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for extended periods of time.
