Tool Service Technician

Join United Rentals as a Tool Service Technician (Service Tech III) and use your skills to perform maintenance and repair of complex tools in a safe and professional manner.

• Perform safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex tools and specialty equipment at branch or customer locations, involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding, and hoisting systems.
• Conduct intermediate-level diagnostics and repairs on tools and systems, utilizing working knowledge of schematics and diagrams.
• Assist in the training of lower-level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed.
• Travel to customer sites for repair or maintenance of rental or owned equipment when required.
• Assist in the pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals, Inc. locations for purchase and/or repair.
• Perform other duties assigned as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing and maintaining specialty tools.
• Ownership of applicable tools for the position.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Working knowledge of schematics and diagrams.
• Working knowledge of specialty tools, manufacturers’ warranty access, and work order/time spent accounting.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to coach and mentor less experienced service technicians.
• Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• Position is deemed safety sensitive for United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
