Maintenance Specialist - Electrician - Journey 2/Lead
What you will be doing: You will maintain and repair electrical systems across the Anchorage International Airport airfield and complex. Duties include operating and maintaining airfield lighting systems, exterior building lighting, street lighting, lift stations, pilot‑controlled gates, and other electrical controls. You will communicate on company and air‑to‑ground radios, clean and maintain equipment, rebuild fixtures, locate construction sites, test backup generators, conduct airfield lighting inspections, and perform lighting repairs under diverse conditions, including whiteout situations and during snow events.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair all electrical systems across the airfield and complex regardless of weather.
- Communicate effectively on air‑to‑ground and company radios.
- Clean and maintain electrical equipment and components.
- Rebuild electrical fixtures and conduct fixture relocations for construction projects.
- Test backup generators and perform airfield lighting inspections.
- Inspect and repair lighting systems, including replacement during whiteout conditions.
- Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for high‑quality, timely, cost‑effective results.
- Adaptability: Adjusts work plans to meet changing demands.
- Attention to Detail: Thorough and conscientious in all tasks.
- Electrical: Knowledge of electrical equipment, components, and systems.
- Mechanics: Knowledge of machines and tools and their maintenance.
- Problem Solving: Identifies problems and recommends solutions.
- State of Alaska Fitness Certificate – Electrician.
- Valid and Current Alaska CDL Class
B. - First Aid/CPR certification.
- National Electric Code (NEC) knowledge.
- OSHA regulations compliance.
- Pass a fingerprint‑based criminal history check and TSA security threat assessment.
- Journeyman Electrician license with the State of Alaska (or conditional hire if licensed elsewhere; must obtain Alaska license within 90 days).
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License (if not yet obtained, must obtain within 120 days of hire).
