Job Description
This position carries out those activities required to maintain and correct damage and make repairs to physical buildings, structures, and facilities, as well as the maintenance, repair of machinery, equipment, and cleaning equipment of assigned facilities. The role involves using equipment such as scissor lifts, working regularly from ladders, and may also include minor electrical repair work. It supports the ACS facility headquartered in Anchorage, AK, with roving duties to other Alaska ACS facilities as required.
Tools, company work vehicle, and airfare to other worksites are provided.
- Works with a variety of skilled trades and/or skill sets in all aspects of Facilities Maintenance to include modular furniture, interior partition walls, suspended ceilings, doors and door hardware, cabinets, and counters.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance duties required in the construction skills trades on facilities, HVAC, generators, and other assets associated with each facility.
- Performs repairs on various client facilities per manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
- Performs interior and exterior painting using a variety of paint and applications.
- Modifies and repairs interior/exterior wall systems, roof systems, floor coverings, windows and window coverings.
- Repairs overhead doors, personnel doors and hardware; monitors security systems as requested by the client.
- Makes repairs to chain link and/or security fencing, parking lots, sidewalks, private drives, building grounds.
- Minor electrical work such as lighting lamp change outs; may replace ballast as needed depending on voltage.
- Tests and repairs various systems and equipment using meters, schematics, drawings, and manuals.
- Performs ergonomic changes to modular furniture and any office furniture as needed per client request.
- Performs augmentation of winter snow removal for multiple buildings throughout Central District to include entrances and ancillary doors and sidewalks within specified vicinity.
- Performs locksmith duties as needed, such as replacing locksets, changing interchangeable cores, cutting keys, and pinning cores.
- Repairs or maintains damage to walls and flooring, including hanging cabinets, fixtures, pictures, drywall installation/repairs, painting, VCT flooring installation/repair, sheet vinyl installation/repair, carpet/carpet tile installation/repair, concrete installation/repair.
- Clears work area, tools, and equipment.
- Regular day shift, M-F; position may involve night or weekend work as needed.
- Escorts and/or assists other subcontractors or facilities technicians, regardless of skill set, to include HVAC, electrician, plumber, and others working in our facilities.
- Travel approximately 25–35% of the time out of Anchorage to remote sites; may be required to travel more often or within hours of client request to any site throughout the State of Alaska.
- Must be willing and able to fly on small aircraft to remote sites.
- Must work well with others as directed, be a team player, work independently, and prioritize workload.
- Has experience to assume a supervisory role and/or job site lead technician; able to instruct others as a lead technician professionally.
- Other related duties may also be assigned or required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of directly related facilities and/or building maintenance experience.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS vehicle insurance policy.
- Commercial HVAC experience.
Physical Requirements
Weather: indoor/outdoor with occasional exposure to harsh conditions; work performed both inside and outside. Noise level: moderate and occasionally loud. Environment: office building with standard office environment.
Physical requirements:
frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs; sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, carry weight/lift. Travel: may travel up to 50% of the time throughout Alaska and/or remote locations; may use snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs.
