Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Anchorage, Alaska — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Benefits- Hourly Pay: $35.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
First Shift 8:30 am – 5:00 pm - Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification/Post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications, preferred
- Basic tools, required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
- Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
- All other certifications required by location, required
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Knowledge and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Position requires driving Ryder vehicles – must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire; pass a Ryder drug test; pass a DOT physical; pass a Ryder road test; pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems with diagnostic computer as applicable, completing complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision, replacing defective components as instructed, and working unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once a task is assigned
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties as required to support operations, including but not limited to Service Island support
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 of the OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
