Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Anchorage, Alaska—offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Compensation & Benefits- Hourly Pay: $35.00 per hour
- Sign on Bonus: $3500
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
First Shift 8:30 am – 5:00 pm - Certification bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700
- Must have heavy duty diesel maintenance experience

- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Gain SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) and complete 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days - Other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification / post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- All other certification as required by location required
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background and motor vehicle check (drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years)
