Salary- GS-7: $43,106.00 - $56,039.00
- GS-9: $52,727.00 - $68,549.00
Recruitment incentives of up to 20% and relocation incentives of up to 15% may be available under specific conditions.
ResponsibilitiesElectronics technicians require knowledge of data networks, radio frequency theory, and electronic troubleshooting skills. They must possess a solid foundation in electronics, basic electronics and electronic theory, algebra, and elementary physics.
Key duties include:
- Install, maintain, and operationally test communication and intrusion systems to keep them in optimum condition.
- Control maintenance and service functions necessary for optimal operational capability of complex equipment used in FM radio, radio teletype, secure telephone, data, and intrusion systems.
- Use test equipment and advanced techniques to perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks, including the operational testing of FM radio systems such as base stations, repeaters, remote and mobile transmitters/receivers, and personal equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance by regularly inspecting and testing equipment for reliability and accuracy to prevent breakdown.
- Perform corrective maintenance to restore systems that are out of operating condition through analytical testing and replacement or repair of deficient components.
- Review technical manuals, stay current with technology, and attend government-sponsored training classes as required.
Work involves strenuous physical exertion such as climbing tall ladders or towers, standing for long periods, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds.
Work EnvironmentEmployees face high risk environments with potential exposure to electrical shocks, falls from high towers, inclement weather, and hazardous situations. Safety precautions and the presence of a companion technician may be required for hazardous duties.
Qualifications Key Requirements- U.S. citizen.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance.
