The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level plumbing work, including assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and drainage systems in compliance with specifications and plumbing codes.
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and job specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and drainage systems.
- Develop material takeoffs for pending projects
- Assist Project Foreman in preparing estimates as they relate to Plumbing tasks.
- Assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems.
- Identify required tools and special equipment.
- Select the type and size of pipe.
- Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures.
- Measure and cut openings in walls and floors to install pipe and pipe fittings.
- Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, and supported.
- Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing, drainage systems, and fixtures.
- Schedule and record all repair and maintenance activities.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
- Knowledge of hydronic heating systems including boilers, heat exchangers and circulating pumps.
- A working knowledge of mechanical systems and the electrical systems that control them
- Work with other trades to achieve key deliverables.
- Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid (U.S issued) Driver’s License is required.
- A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
- A State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness is required.
- The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
- At least four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber is required.
