Position Summary

As a Service Technician2, you are a multi‑faceted maintenance professional with proven success providing quality service in a timely manner to our residents and community. Each day, you work in vacant and occupied apartments, performing tasks such as painting, drywall repairs, and executing maintenance repairs requested by the company. You conduct efficient daily maintenance tasks while increasing the asset value and integrity of the community.

You are skilled and efficient, able to handle complex maintenance repairs on appliances and building systems, manage your time effectively, and provide excellent customer service when interacting with residents, associates, and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare all vacant apartments for occupancy, including painting, drywall repair, trash out, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs
  • Independently perform system repairs on electrical, plumbing, hot water heaters, HVAC systems, appliances, and other building systems
  • Perform detailed work with carpentry, drywall repairs, and interior/exterior painting
  • Determine when full‑paint or touch‑up paint is needed and select correct paint sheen and color
  • Repair plank, vinyl, and carpet flooring
  • Respond to residents’ service requests daily and promptly with minimum supervision
  • Identify and perform preventive maintenance as assigned
  • Clean pools as directed, monitor chemical balance, and maintain logs per city ordinances when applicable
  • Perform daily grounds maintenance, including trash removal, pet waste disposal, sweeping walkways, and snow removal where applicable
  • Participate in property improvements and preventive maintenance scheduled tasks promptly
  • Utilize Weidner‑issued cell phone and specified apps as part of your daily role
  • Use personal vehicle to travel between properties during work hours
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation as scheduled
  • Assist any maintenance or service team as needed

Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience required
  • 3–5 years of painting and drywall repair experience required
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds (36.3kg)
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs
  • Ability to use appliance dolly to move up to 200 pounds (90.7kg)
  • Capacity to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Capacity to be on feet consistently during the entire shift, if applicable
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pool maintenance, appliances, building systems, irrigation systems, and HVAC systems
  • HVAC, CPO, EPA certification desired or required as directed by regional leadership
  • Industry designations such as CAMT desired
  • Complete tasks safely and efficiently
  • Strong motivation to learn and contribute on a daily basis in a fast‑paced environment
  • Professional communication skills in person, over the phone, email, and text
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred
  • Experience with Yardi and Paycom preferred; willingness to learn new software programs
  • Compliance with Weidner’s Mission, Vision, Values, and all policies, as well as all Fair Housing, local, state, and federal laws
  • Prompt, regular attendance; wear company dress code/uniform and maintain professional appearance at all times
  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment
  • Availability for overtime as requested
  • Willingness to be assigned to other Weidner properties as needed
  • Working knowledge of English, detail oriented, well organized
  • Agreement to a criminal background check and voluntary drug testing
  • Access to personal vehicle and/or reliable transportation at all times
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance, unexpired at all times and matching the country of employment
