Cook Inlet Housing Authority (CIHA) is hiring an Abatement Technician I-II to help remediate methamphetamine-contaminated units and restore them to safe, welcoming homes for our residents. This role is a unique blend of specialized cleaning, containment, and minor remodeling work. Compensation: $31.25 – $37.26 per hour (DOE)

What You’ll Be Doing
Perform meth contamination abatement using approved methods and equipment
Carry out containment strategies to prevent cross-contamination
Complete post-abatement repairs like drywall, painting, flooring, and finish work
Conduct inspections and document remediation efforts
Collaborate with maintenance teams and contractors to restore units
Maintain inventory and report equipment needs
Support general maintenance and preventative inspections
What We’re Looking For
Knowledge of hazardous material handling and remediation standards
Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and PPE
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable lifting up to 70 lbs, working in PPE, and navigating confined spaces
Valid Alaska Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Levels & Experience
Technician I: 3+ years in building maintenance + HAZWOPER 40-hour certification
Technician II: 3+ years in hazardous abatement + advanced certifications

* The posted salary range reflects more than one position, from Abatement Technician I to Technician II. Placement within the range will be determined based on the level of the position offered, as well as the candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
