Journeyman HVAC

Job Summary:

The Journeyman HVAC Technician installs, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in residential and/or commercial settings. This role works independently under general supervision and may direct the work of apprentices.

• Install, inspect, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, thermostats, and ventilation components
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national codes (e.g., building codes, EPA refrigerant handling regulations)
• Handle refrigerants safely in accordance with EPA Section 608 certification requirements
• Communicate with customers regarding system issues, repair options, and maintenance recommendations
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts/materials used
• Mentor and supervise apprentice technicians as needed
• Follow all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment

• Journeyman HVAC license/certification as required by state or local jurisdiction
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
• Minimum of 4-5 years of hands-on HVAC experience (or completion of a registered apprenticeship program)
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems
• Ability to read technical schematics and diagnostic reports

• Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
• Ability to stand, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods

Field-based role requiring travel to job sites; may include on-call/emergency service hours.
