The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Alaska Army National Guard (AKANG), Facilities Maintenance Office (FMO), is recruiting for an Maintenance Generalist - Journey!
This position is in the Labor, Trades, and Crafts (LTC) bargaining unit at a wage grade 54.

What You Will Be Doing:AK Army National Guard is looking for a h
ighly versatile and skilled Facilities Maintenance professional with broad hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex building systems. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while applying industry-standard methods, safety practices, and maintenance techniques. Experienced in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, boilers and low-pressure steam, building automation/DDC controls, domestic water and sewage systems, hydronic systems, and general facility maintenance. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify system malfunctions, determine appropriate corrective actions, and restore equipment and building systems to reliable operating condition.

Technical Problem Solving:
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.
Self-Management:Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment.
If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.
State employees are guests at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; clearance and access are not within the State's control.
SpecialNote:
In addition, in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process, a background check investigation, including a criminal records check, will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
