The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, testing, and documenting hydraulic components and systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, power units, PTOs, and related fluid power equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hydraulic product knowledge, safe work practices, and the ability to diagnose equipment failures, identify required parts, complete quality repairs, and support customer needs in a shop or field service environment.
Salary: $25- $35 Hourly | DOE
Primary Duties:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, assemble, and test hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, DC power units, PTOs, high-pressure components, and related hydraulic equipment.
- Evaluate equipment condition, determine probable cause of failure, identify required parts, prepare labor estimates, and complete repairs accurately and timely.
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, work orders, technical specifications, parts diagrams, service manuals, and related documentation to support diagnosis and repair.
- Disassemble, clean, measure, inspect, and reassemble hydraulic components using appropriate tools, measuring devices, test equipment, and shop procedures.
- Perform functional testing, pressure testing, leak testing, and quality checks to verify safe and reliable equipment operation before return to service.
- Document work performed, parts used, inspection findings, test results, and repair recommendations in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain, organize, and care for tools, equipment, work areas, and inventory used in hydraulic repair and service activities.
- Assist with field service work, customer technical support, installations, troubleshooting, or onsite repairs as needed.
- Coordinate with sales, customer service, purchasing, operations, and other departments to support timely repair completion and customer satisfaction.
- Follow all safety, quality, environmental, and shop procedures, including proper lockout/tagout practices, pressure safety precautions, PPE requirements, and safe handling of hydraulic fluids and components.
- Develop, maintain, and share hydraulic product knowledge and provide technical support or informal guidance to coworkers as appropriate.
- Address customer requests, concerns, and repair-related questions professionally, using a positive, solution-oriented approach.
- A level III may provide informal guidance, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced team members on standard assembly practices and procedures.

Education & Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school, vocational training, fluid power, hydraulic systems, diesel, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or related skilled trades coursework preferred.
- Requires 2–4 years of related hydraulic repair, fluid power, mechanical repair, industrial maintenance, equipment service, or shop technician experience; level may vary based on demonstrated knowledge and experience.
- Experience repairing or rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, power units, PTOs, or related fluid power components preferred.
