Job Summary
We are recruiting Juvenile Probation Officer 1/2 positions located in the Anchorage Juvenile Probation office on the campus of the McLaughlin Youth Center. The role is open to Alaska residents only.
This is a full‑time position with a 7.5‑hour workday that may include a weekend shift as part of a rotating schedule, requires on‑call/standby responsibility on weekdays and weekends, and may require periodic travel.
Responsibilities- Monitor, motivate, and supervise a caseload of formal and informal juvenile offenders to address accountability and facilitate community restoration.
- Screen and process juvenile criminal referrals from early pre‑court services through the court process, providing supervision and case management.
- Facilitate communication and service delivery with youth, families, attorneys, the court, service providers, and victims of juvenile offenses.
- Develop case plans in coordination with multiple community agencies and treatment programs to provide trauma‑informed services for delinquent youth, their families, and victims.
- Represent the department in formal court environments, producing petitions, reports, and documents under inflexible timelines.

Training in juvenile justice, criminal justice, criminology, sociology, social work, psychology, guidance and counseling, the behavioral sciences, or a closely related field, and/or experience providing juvenile justice probation, adult probation, adult protection services, child protection services, supervision of juvenile offenders in a juvenile justice facility, or care or service to delinquent juveniles.
