This position is represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) - Local 1264 Union and is subject to the current provisions of the agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the IAFF Local 1264 Union.

-3:30pm (8-hour days) or alternate 40-hour schedule as approved by supervisor.

To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Exampleof Duties
Responsible for Anchorage Areawide (including Chugiak and Girdwood) Emergency Medical Service (EMS) transport and fire billing of approximately 17,000 runs per year. Requires the use and knowledge of multiple computer tracking and reporting systems, knowledge of complex billing protocols, resolving daily discrepancies including missing information in various computer applications. Assign care level for charges, handle 25,000 hard copy patient signed reports for billing and archiving.
Serve as the records custodian for fire and EMS incident reports, research Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) data and prepare records release documents, respond to subpoenas, and court orders including court appearances. Work with IT, EMS providers, volunteer agencies, billing vendor and others to fulfill duties. Support department's Federal DEA compliance program by administering controlled substance logs, track and perform detailed monthly reconciliation.
Maintain current training with Medical Supply Tech to provide EMS inventory restocking at hospitals on an as needed basis. Perform a full range of administrative duties as staff support for the Municipality of Anchorage EMS Medical Advisory Board, Headquarters Administration, including assisting walk in clients and answering phones. Assist with department timekeeping/payroll back-up as needed, and other duties assigned.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and five (5) years of office clerical experience, of which three (3) years must have been in purchasing, finance, or accounts payable positions. Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire. Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska driver's license and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaskan driver's license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.

The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
