The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant 4.

• This position will demonstrate an understanding of the concept of therapeutic milieu and the flow of how the Nursing Units run and teaches others.
• Leads and personally assist patients in becoming self‑reliant in daily living activities, such as oral hygiene; preparing for meals, toileting, or preparing for bed.
• Demonstrates and directs others in intervening appropriately (non‑verbally, verbally and physically) in dealing with patients who may harm themselves or others.
• Observe and document patient behavior accurately in an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Leads staff and patients in maintaining an orderly therapeutic environment.

The selected candidate will work in an environment that is fast paced, busy and challenging at times, but embraces collaboration through working closely with supervisors, managers, and personnel to assist in providing services to Alaska Psychiatric Institute.

This position is located at 3700 Piper Street in the U-MED district of east Anchorage which offers several maintained walking trails, parks and nearby lakes. This area is filled with several restaurants, shopping stores, and has easy access to public transportation.

One year of specific experience performing a wide variety of paraprofessional psychiatric nursing duties designed to provide care, treatment, and rehabilitation to psychiatric or developmentally‑challenged patients. This experience is met by service as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant 3.
