The mission of the LXD team is to build a next‑generation private cloud infrastructure that integrates KVM, Ceph and SDN to deliver a data‑center‑scale cloud that "just works" and supports mission‑critical edge and core enterprise deployments. As a Golang engineer on this team you will work on low‑level Go code that bridges the LXD REST API and the underlying C libraries that manage containers and virtual machines.
Location:
Remote – available to candidates in EMEA and the Americas.
- Design, implement and document system‑level Go code
- Model data, design database schemas and implement data storage in a dqlite (SQL) database
- Maintain code quality through static analysis, unit and system tests
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team and communicate ideas effectively
- Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events
- Experience programming in Go and C
- Knowledgeable in networking and storage technologies
- Experience with at least two of: cloud computing, virtualisation, containers, distributed systems, open‑source community
- Curious, flexible, articulate and accountable, with strong soft skills and thoughtfulness
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or a related field
- Distributed work environment with twice‑yearly in‑person team sprints
- Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year
