The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Athletics is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Compliance Manager. Seawolf Athletics is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), and competes in multiple National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) divisions. The Seawolf program features 13 teams competing at both the Division 1 and Division II levels.

As the Compliance Manager, you will be an essential member of our team in enhancing and maintaining a supportive compliance environment, ensuring education and resources are available to coaches, staff and student‑athletes. In this pivotal role, you’ll be the go‑to resource for NCAA and conference guidance, NCAA eligibility expertise, and policy interpretation. You’ll collaborate with coaches, faculty, and campus partners to ensure students meet NCAA and conference requirements.

Success will come from the ability to build trust within the department, foster a supportive compliance environment, and effectively navigate the unique challenges of balancing athletic and academic commitments. This position requires sound judgment, integrity, discretion when handling sensitive information, and the ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, including students, coaches, faculty, and staff.

An ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, particularly those related to amateurism, recruiting, financial aid, eligibility, and NIL, and familiarity with institutional procedures related to student‑athletes. They should possess proven skills in policy development, regulatory interpretation, investigative processes, along with proficiency in database management, such as Banner and Teamworks, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), Google Workspace, PDF editing tools, and Docu Sign.

Experience in coordinating conflicting issues of diverse units, time‑management under competing priorities, and the ability to travel or work flexible hours will be key to success in this role.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in NCAA compliance or a related area within a higher education or athletics environment, familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations specific to the GNAC conference, and knowledge of data platforms and institutional degree audit software (e.g., Teamworks, Degree Works, Banner) are preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) certification, or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
  • GNAC and NCAA required learning modules completed within 30 days of the job start date.
  • UA Safe Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of job start date.
  • Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver’s license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver’s license within 90 days of accepting the job. In addition, the applicant must meet the University’s safe driving criteria.
