The Yard Hostler is responsible for the safe and timely movement, positioning, and organization of trailers, containers, and chassis within the yard. This role is essential to maintaining an efficient, well‑organized, and safety‑focused facility while supporting warehouse and dispatch operations.

• Operate a yard tractor safely to position loaded and empty containers, trailers, and chassis on private property.
• Exemplify and actively support safe operations within the yard and facility.
• Receive instructions promptly and provide ongoing, timely feedback on assignment status.
• Coordinate effectively with dispatch, warehouse supervisors, company drivers, contracted drivers, and third‑party carriers.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient yard, exercising independent judgment as needed.
• Affix and remove security devices on trailers, containers, chassis, yard tractors, and yard gates.
• Inspect equipment regularly and document/report any deficiencies in a timely manner.
• Keep yard equipment and vehicles clean as circumstances allow.
• Prepare, complete, and verify required documentation accurately and legibly, including system updates in the yard computer.
• Comply with all company policies, rules, and safety procedures.
• Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
