Position: Pilot in Command (Rotor Wing) – Anchorage, Alaska (Part Time)

Tyonek Services Group, Inc is seeking a Rotor Wing Pilot in Command (PIC) as part of the in‑house flight department. This position with Tyonek will be in support of an operational mixed fleet of fixed‑wing and rotor helicopters under 14 CFR Part 135 and Part 91 in support of executive transport, crew changes, surveillance, and offshore logistics. This position is based in Alaska.

Duties:

The Pilot-in-Command (PIC) is accountable for the safe conduct of assigned flights. The PIC is responsible for the operation, safety and security of the aircraft and the safety of all crew members, passengers and cargo on board. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

Pre-flight
  • Prior to initiating a flight or a series of flights, ensuring the aircraft is equipped with all required systems and components for its assigned operations
  • Ensuring the aircraft pre‑flight inspection is completed as per the aircraft flight manual before each departure
  • Ensuring safe operation of flight assignments in accordance with 14 CFR Regulations, this manual, Ops Specs, and Company SOP's
  • Ensuring that a flight will not commence if a flight crew member is incapacitated from performing duties by any cause such as injury, sickness, fatigue, or the effects of any psychoactive substance
  • Ensuring that the flight will not be continued beyond the nearest suitable aerodrome or heliport, when a flight crew member's capacity to perform functions is significantly reduced by impairment of faculties from causes such as fatigue, sickness, or lack of oxygen
  • Checking and assessing weather and all applicable FAA NOTAMs when available. As soon as possible, report to the appropriate air traffic services (ATS) unit any hazardous weather or flight conditions encountered that are likely to affect the safety of other aircraft
  • Promoting fundamental Crew Resource Management (CRM) when working with other pilots and station personnel
  • Participating in Operational Control tasks
  • Ensures communication with maintenance regarding any discrepancies. If maintenance personnel are not immediately available a notification shall be made via phone to the Lead Mechanic or Director of Maintenance.
  • Maintaining currency with certification and flight experience, (i.e., medical certificates, check rides, recency of experience, etc.)
  • Maintains familiarity with Company Compliance Documents
  • Responsible for registering in Pilot Record Database (PRD) and listing Grasshopper Aviation LLC as a current employer in accordance with 14 CFR §111.1(b)(8)
  • Ensuring that the aircraft is airworthy, duly registered, and that the documentation and operational information are onboard the aircraft
  • Ensures fueling and oil operations are supervised and meet requirements
  • Ensuring that all flight planning requirements have been met
  • Ensuring that carriage of Haz Mat is packaged and stowed I/A/W 49 CFR 100-177 and accompanying paperwork is complete and signed
  • Briefing the passengers in accordance with the requirements specified in FAR Part 135 and Keeping passengers informed of flight status whenever delays occur
  • Safety of all passengers, cargo, aircraft, and assigned SIC's when executing a flight assignment
  • Checking in passengers and assisting with passenger comfort
  • Participating in the safety management system
  • Security of cargo and baggage loads and of the aircraft during its operation
  • Responsibility for operational control as outlined in GOM 2.4
  • Maintain communication with Logistics regarding scheduling, routing, passengers, and loads. Communication may be via phone, email, text, or radio
  • Operating the aircraft in accordance with Company SOP's
  • Notifying the nearest appropriate authority by the quickest available means of any accident involving the aircraft, resulting in serious injury or death of any person or substantial damage to the aircraft or property
  • Submitting a report to the designated local authority following an act of unlawful interference
Post Flight
  • Keeping all assigned documents and manuals up to date
  • Confirm accurate and signoff weight and balance
  • Completion and maintenance of the aircraft flight and duty logbook
  • Ensures that flight times are confirmed after each flight or at end of day
