This position is located at the PWSAC Distribution Center in Anchorage, AK, and performs driving duties around Anchorage and to/from Whittier, AK.

This is a temporary position scheduled to run through December 18, 2026.

Basic Function:The Distribution Center Truck Driverensurestheefficientandtimely  transportation of freight to and from the barge landing sites and vendor locations.

Primary Responsibilities:Thispositionisresponsible forallaspectsofcommercialdriving using existing company trucks and equipment.

  • Drivecompanysemi-tractoranddelivershippingvansandflatbedtrailerstoandfrom the barge landing sites and vendor locations.
  • Driveboxtrucktomakedeliveries,pickupordersandpurchase supplies.
  • Maintainshippingmanifest,billsofladingforaccuracyof shipments.
  • Operateforklifttoreceiveandunloadfreightfromvendordeliveriesinasafe manner.
  • Performpreandposttripchecksonvehiclesand equipment.
  • Reportanymaintenanceandrepair needed.
  • Recorddailyinformationonprovided log.
  • Performsrelateddutiesas assigned.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skilledindrivingcommercialvehicleswithtrailersand flatbeds.
  • Abilitytoworkwellwithminimal supervision.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications for the purpose of data entry, report compilation and communication
  • Knowledgeofbasicvehiclemechanicssufficienttorecognizeandtroubleshootvehicle maintenance concerns.
  • Demonstratestheabilitytolistenandunderstandinformationandideaspresented verbally and in writing
  • Hastheabilitytoclearlycommunicateinformationandideasbothverballyandin writing

Essential Functions:

Work performed at the Anchorage Distribution Center and highways. Must be able to move about freely; ability to lift and carry 50 pounds; ability to climb stairs without assistance;usetelephonesandcomputersunimpaired.

Mustbeabletoread,write,speak and understand the English language. Mustbe able tohear and seeto receive verbal and written instructions. Will regularly operate warehouse equipment and commercial vehicles which requires manual dexterity requiring some coordinated movements. Will regularly conduct work in and outside the facility,may beexposed to inclement and cold seasonal weather.

The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to moderate.

Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation (PWSAC) is a private, non-profit hatchery association founded in 1974 by a local commercial fishermen’s organization to optimize Alaska’s wild salmon resources. PWSAC produces hatchery-born, ocean-raised wild salmon for the commercial, sport, personal use, and subsistence fisheries in the Prince William Sound and Copper River regions.

PWSAC manages four salmon hatcheries in remote, off-grid, locations in the Prince William Sound of Alaska and a fifth hatchery in the interior of Alaska. PWSAC support offices are located in Cordova and Anchorage, Alaska. PWSAC is looking for an individual that will unite with PWSAC's mission of sustainable fisheries contributing to the culture and economy of the region.
