Job Description

Our transportation manager is responsible for coordinating the daily operations and budget of the department and a member of Senior Staff. Uphold company safety standards, compliance and standards of conduct. Provide driver support and resolve unexpected problems to ensure operation goals are met with the highest regard for customer service. Maintain efficiency of processes in a fast paced team environment.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (any combination of the following job duties:

  • All employees are responsible for food safety and are expected to notify the appropriate manager, supervisor, or key personnel if they witness any compromise to food safety or food quality
  • Determine adequate labor needs and staff as appropriate.
  • Effectively train personnel and establish performance goals for subordinates.
  • Maintain regular communications with sales, buying, and warehouse staff to insure operations are functioning satisfactorily.
  • Develop and review Division reports profit and loss statement to determine efficiency levels.
  • Initiate transportation capital expenditure requests as needed.
  • Conduct staff/employee meetings to monitor all aspects of transportation operations including ongoing safety objectives.
  • Responsible for the daily scheduling of transportation personnel to ensure proper staffing.
  • Monitor computerized routing of our truck fleet
  • Create route tracking and adjustments
  • Spreadsheet maintenance
  • Dispatching to route drivers as needed
  • Plan labor needs and future scheduling
  • New driver onboarding and training
  • DOT Policy implementation
  • Driver performance management
  • Schedule all drivers and manager re-schedules for sick/absent drivers
  • Audit Driver logs and review driver pre-check lists
  • Driver performance management
  • Coordinate back hauls and pick-ups
  • Coordinate maintenance of all equipment
  • Ensure drivers are informed of changes
  • Communicate and relay information to receiving and purchasing department regarding issues with vendors.
  • Manages Employee Performance Reviews, investigations, safety guidelines, workers compensation, employee relations and ADP time and attendance monitoring/ approvals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Minimum Qualifications
:

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation supervision or management role.
    • Position leads- TR Supervisor, TR Dispatcher, TR Admin and all Drivers (approx. 30 headcount)
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations.
  • Current commercial driving license, medical card and driving record in good standing preferred.
  • Must have good business acumen.
  • Proven ability to build and execute budgets, managing department P&L.
  • Must be able to read write and speak English fluently, bi-lingual a plus(Spanish)
  • Intermediate word and excel skills for correspondence and reporting duties/pivot tables
  • Proficient MS Outlook skills for regular communication with staff members.
  • Must be able to assist a diverse work force and communicate clearly with various levels of management.
