Power South Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members – 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems – in Alabama and northwest Florida. Power South’s member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida.

The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support to the Engineering & Operations Division. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Designs facilities to be utilized in the generation, transmission, or distribution of electrical power to ensure members of a reliable power supply.
• Reviews and writes specifications for equipment used on Power South’s system to ensure Power South equipment meets industry standards.
• Performs engineering calculations utilizing standard engineering formulas or computer techniques to ensure proper design and operation of Power South’s system.
• Completes special projects such as evaluating equipment or developing software to enable Power South to be more efficient in the future.
• Responsible for ensuring the success of Power South by promoting team work, group goals and objectives, proper communication and cooperation within the department, division, throughout the Power South organization and with member systems.
