Responsibilities

  • Execute routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of medical devices, including but not limited to patient monitors, infusion pumps, and basic diagnostic equipment, following established protocols.
  • Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, and as assigned, perform PM and safety/environmental inspections.
  • Perform minor repairs and component replacements under direct supervision or using detailed service manuals and schematics.
  • May assist more experienced technicians on basic and more complex repairs/resolution.
  • Document all maintenance, repair, and calibration activities accurately and promptly in the designated asset management system.
  • Calibrate equipment to manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to and resolve basic equipment malfunctions reported by clinical staff.
  • Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up, leading to strong customer relations and ongoing customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance technical skills and knowledge of new medical technologies.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards, including those related to infection control and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure proper care of tools and test equipment.
Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field; OR equivalent military education; OR a participant in the formal GE Health Care Biomedical or Field Engineer Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to be available after‑hours and/or work a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends.
