Software Developer​/Business Analyst II

Power South Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. Power South's member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida.

The purpose of the position is to design the program logic and facilitate gathering project requirements from the business units and converting those requirements into application software to perform specific functions. This position operates in an on-premises office environment. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field. In addition, the incumbent should possess the capability to effectively convey information verbally and in written form, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

It is preferred the incumbent have a working knowledge of programming languages and development tools, as well as be familiar with version control tools and principles.

• Participates in the development and documentation of logical system requirements, scope objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
• Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications; write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary; design, run, and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
• Aids in the compilation of procedures, manuals and forms as requested in order to facilitate the use and maintenance of programs by users.
• Performs application support functions as required in order to fulfill corporate and departmental goals as specified and performs user support as needed.
• Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines at a project level; accountable for time management skills; ability to balance competing demands and responsibilities; ability to identify and determine the importance and urgency of tasks and projects.
• Responsible for ensuring the success of Power South by promoting teamwork, group goals and objectives, properly communicating and cooperating within the Power South organization and with member systems as well as demonstrating and promoting standards of respect and dignity, accountability, integrity, and trustworthiness.
