Base Pay: $24.00 - $36.40 / hour
JOB SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Health Information Services Manager, the HIS ROI Team Lead is responsible for maintaining and protecting patient confidentiality of medical records. Provide clerical support for the Health Information Services department including releasing and obtaining records, accurate completion of mandated forms, and answer incoming calls. Be a contact point for customer service by assisting patients with filling out medical records release forms.
Provide accurate and appropriate information and assistance to outside facilities as well as in-house staff.
- Manage Schedule/coverage calendars for ROI team.
- Maintain access to outside facilities.
- Coordinate team training, huddles, review and provide assignment of work reports
- Meet with Team Leads group weekly to discuss Dept. Operational issues.
- Dept. Quality Improvement/PDSA
- Filter operational questions, make decisions as appropriate.
- Oversite of the ROI Fax folder and processing
- Timely processing of ROI requests
- Interface with Outside ROI contractor
- Act as Custodian of Records, reviewing outgoing records as needed and signing off.
- Taking records to court as needed.
- Monitor and respond to any calls in regard to ROI.
- Attend applicable SCHC meetings as assigned.
- Maintains security of patient health information both inside and outside the clinic (hospitals).
- Fosters an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among all staff of SCHC.
- Enforces clinic policies and procedures to ensure that the principles of SCHC are implemented.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patients and employee information.
- Informs supervisor or manager of matters of general interest and problem areas as such are determined or discovered.
- Attends SCHC staff and organization meetings as requested.
- Understands and adheres to the Ethics, Compliance and Code of Conduct policy.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in a variety of decision-making scenarios
- Good attention to detail and ability to probe for information to fully understand the needs of the customer
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
- Ability to work within a team and to manage conflict
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum 1 year of healthcare related experience in the area(s) of direct patient care, medical records, patient registration, scheduling, claims and/or information technology within a hospital or clinic, or the equivalent in education and experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Minimum Associates degree in Health Information, Business, or related field.
- RHIT or RHIA certification (AHIMA), or CHPC certification (HCCA)
