OverviewRN Psych / Registered Nurse, Home Health. Provide nursing care requiring specialized psychiatric and mental health clinical skills within the scope of Home Health to patients with physical and mental illness, late life depression, and substance abuse concerns.
What You Need to KnowAn RN Psych Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care under physician's orders utilizing nursing theory, skills, and techniques, and providing instruction and supervision of LVNs/LPNs and Home Health Aides.
Qualifications- Current State RN license meeting one of the following:
- Diploma or AA in nursing with at least 2 years recent experience in psychiatric or mental health home care or acute psychiatric settings.
- Baccalaureate in nursing with at least 1 year recent experience in psychiatric or mental health home care or acute psychiatric settings.
- Master's in psychiatric or mental health nursing with at least 1 year recent experience in psychiatric or mental health home care or acute psychiatric settings.
- Resume of the Behavioral Health/Psychiatric Home Care Nurse submitted to and approved by Palmetto for agencies providing psychiatric services under Medicare Home Health Benefit.
- Current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with current auto insurance and a vehicle in good working order.
- Assessment of nursing needs and direct care of the patient's care plan.
- Makes initial assessment and reassessment visits.
- Conveys assessment results and recommended interventions to the physician.
- Updates physician and other personnel on changes in the patient's condition and needs.
- Documents and submits assessment, progress, and discharge notes and other required paperwork on time.
- Manages medical illness and performs psycho‑biological interventions.
- Evaluates medicines for efficacy, adverse reactions, significant effects, drug allergies, side effects, and contraindications.
- Instructs patients regarding medication regimen and reviews compliance.
- Administers IM medications.
